The article presents an analysis of diaries and notebooks by different Ukrainian and Russian writers. They are very useful to cognize the secrets of their creativity, the specific features of their world view, and their attitude to nature and arts. There was shown that the thoughts and impressions, dissipated in notebooks, can be studied as not only the fragmentary forms, but also as the mosaic of a writer’s complicated internal world. у статті аналізуються щоденники та записники письменників, через які пізнаються секрети їхньої творчості, особливості світогляду і ставлення до природи та мистецтва.
