У статті зроблена спроба спрогнозувати розвиток політичних подій і баланс сил в Україні у випадку, якщо Угода про асоціацію між Україною та Європейським Союзом не буде підписана у листопаді 2013 року. Я стверджую, що Захід міг би ефективно посилити свій вплив на владу в Україні, якщо санкції, за політично мотивоване судочинство і неповагу до принципу верховенства права, будуть застосовані в момент найвищої уразливості режиму. У статті пропонується три сценарії політичного розвитку в Україні після Вільнюського саміту. (This paper attempts to forecast politics and the power balance in Ukraine in the event the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will not be signed in November 2013. I argue that the West could effectively amplify its leverage over Ukraine’s government if sanctions, for politically motivated prosecution and disrespect for the rule of law, will be applied at the moment of the highest vulnerability of regime. The paper offers three scenarios for political development in Ukraine in the wake of the Vilnius summit.) |
