The article deals with methodology and methods that are applied in sociology for conducting referendums, ensuring their sociological correctness and ways of pre venting falsifications in the interests of one or another political power. An active participation of sociologists is required to made forthcoming referendums in Ukraine more effective. They help, firstly, to conduct research before referendum that reveal show the population is informed about the questions, which are brought up for nation wide discussion; secondly, to pose professionally questions in ballot -paper and cor rectly interpreted data obtained in the course of referendum.
