У статті розглядається питання соціолінгвістичної ідентифікації мовців в усному американському академічному дискурсі. Зокрема наводяться статистичні дані щодо вживання маркерів хеджингу як засобів ідентифікації та соціолінгвістичної характеристики комунікантів в академічному дискурсі. Дослідження виконано на матеріалі Мічиганського корпусу академічного мовлення (MICASE – Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English). Результати статистичної верифікації вживання маркерів хеджингу подані з огляду на гендерну приналежність мовців, акаде- мічну роль комунікантів та предметну галузь, в якій відбувається комунікація. (The article deals with pressing problems of sociolinguistic identification of speakers in spoken American academic discourse. Sociolinguistic investigations of various types of discourse are concentrated on the analysis of participants of communication, as representatives of a certain social group and conditions of communication. The article is devoted to the investigation of markers of hedging as means of sociolinguistic identification of speakers in academic discourse. In particular, statistic data of markers of hedging usage as means of identification and sociolinguistic characteristic of communicants in academic discourse are presented. The article consists of the description of the material and the methodology of the research of peculiarities of using lexico-grammatical markers of hedging in academic discourse. The research has been conducted on the basis of MICASE – Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English. The results of the carried lingvo-statistic verification of the usage of hedges dependent on such sociolinguistic factors of identification as speakers’ gender (male/ female speech), academic role (speech of teachers (junior faculty, senior faculty) and speech of students (junior graduate, junior undergraduate, senior graduate, senior undergraduate students) and sphere of academic communication (exact sciences (Biological and Health Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering) and the humanities (Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences and Education) are stated. The results of the conducted linguistic and statistic research have proved that particular lexicoramatical markers of hedging can be considered the identifying parameter of the sphere of academic communication and the speaker’s gender and academic role.) |
