| Description |
Laser alloying of 20H steel with boron and carbon was investigated. The microstructure of the alloyed layer with a good metallurgical bond without cracks and pores was found to consist of Fe2B dendrites in martensite matrix. The in-depth microhardness of the alloyed zone varied in the range of 10…6 GPa. Wear resistance in the dry sliding wear conditions after laser alloying improved considerably in comparison to the one, obtained with laser hardening. The dominant wear mechanism of the coating was abrasive ploughing.
