(While cognizing the world people learn much about themselves, their role in the world, other living and inanimate creatures, objects, artifacts, phenomena etc. They always compare themselves with these signs of the surrounding world, providing them with the specific cultural meaning and changing them into the figurative symbols or into the so called «cultural codes».
The total number of these cultural codes form their ideas about the world view in general and themselves as its unique
part. The disclosure of these cultural codes concerning people as the central part of the language world view is the main aim of this article, where the main task is to disclose the sources or the system of images with the help of which people form their
own image in the English language world view, using English comparative phraseological units.
The choice of the comparative phraseological units is not without grounds, as with the help of these lexical units, which have a comparative character, people can figuratively and emotionally code their image on the basis of the figurative images of living and inanimate nature, objects and other phenomena which surround them. It is assisted by the essence of these units, which are formed on the basis of comparison, and it leads to the possibility of drawing them to the comparative structure of the system images taken from other conceptual spheres of the surrounding world. In the result of the semantic shifts these images
in the new phraseological surrounding lose their relations with the referent conceptual sphere and move into the sphere
of figurative nominations of a person.
In different research works there are different amounts of cultural codes and subcodes. Some of them differ even terminologically.
But it is not essential for us, as the research of a specific part of the language world view through the prism of cultural codes may lead to their different number and their different terminological content. According to the main aim of this research work, which is not only to enlist these cultural codes which are already fundamentally studied, but with the help of the comparative phraseology to demonstrate how these cultural codes take part in the formation of the image of a person in the English language world view, where and how the comparative phraseology borrows the material for the formation of the image of a person in the English language world view.)
