Теза «Україна — морська держава» сприймається як аксіома. З причорноморських держав Україна має найбільшу протяжність приморської смуги, розвинений морегосподарський комплекс. У той же час тенденції розвитку морської галузі свідчать про інше — поступове перетворення України з морської держави в «країну біля моря». Від колишнього найбільшого у світі Чорноморського пароплавства залишилися тільки спогади. Складні часи переживають й інші національні судноплавні і суднобудівні компанії. На сучасному й майбутньому етапах розвитку людства в життєдіяльності країн світу нестримно зростає роль Світового океану, його використання стає вирішальною умовою прискореного розвитку світової економіки найважливішим чинником геополітики=The thesis «Ukraine is the sea power» is perceived as an axiom. From the black sea countries Ukraine has the largest length of coastal strip, developed marine complex. At the same time development trends of the Maritime industry suggest another thing — gradual transformation of Ukraine from the marine state into the «land near the sea». From once the largest in the world black sea shipping company were only memories. Other national shipping and shipbuilding companies are also experiencing difficult times. In the modern and future stages of human development the role of the World Ocean rapidly increases in the life of the countries of the world, its use becomes a crucial condition for accelerated development of the world economy and critical geopolitical factor.
