Communicative approach in learning and teaching English requires new ways of checking skills and abilities. In this connection testing is getting more and more important. Frequent testing gives students a sense of achievement and is a source of information for teachers. It also gives students the confidence to continue learning as well as demonstrates that systematic work brings benefits. There is a great variety of tests which can be used in a flexible way depending on teaching situations. Different test are used for different purposes. They can be used not only for checking but as a way of learning new vocabulary as well. A good test should meet all the requirements for a test to reflect the communicative concept and current trends in testing and evaluation. The use of testing in teaching practice has a long history. For the first time it was used in the USA at the beginning of the 20-th century and since that time it has been applied in teaching practice very successfully В статье рассматривается актуальность, особенности и области применения тестирования на современном этапе обучения английскому языку. Показаны преимущества тестов перед традиционными методами контроля, характеристики правильно составленного теста и наиболее распространенные формы тестовых заданий |
