EU's economic and political challenges open a new page of the European integration history. The crisis and challenges presented by Brexit enhanced scholars from various countries to analyze and rethink about the future of the European integration and EU as a whole. This article will outline the issues framed by Italy as a presiding country for G7 in 2017. As a founding member of the European Union, Italian Republic will try to raise discussions on various issues crucial for further development of the EU. The article poses the question to what extent the political fluidity within the member-states will be necessary in order for the EU to still remain solid tackling common economic and political challenges. The article presents the opinions of the Italian scholars and politicians referred to future of the European Union. The first part of it presents an evolution of scholars' thoughts about the role and place of the European integration in the Italy's foreign policy. However, the emphasis is made on the last two years, when Italy had to have transformational changes referred to holding referendum in December 2016. The second part of the article reveals the challenges of the EU, the European integration process and the implications on the Italian Republic. It tries to show how Italy manages to overcome the present integration challenges. The article presents discussion during the G7 and G20 summits. The special attention is given to analyzing the priorities of the Italy's G7 Presidency and its relations with some of the nations. It reveals the liasion between the interests of the Italian Republic and the European Union in order to present a consolidated position on EU's future. У статті репрезентовано погляд на виклики, що пов’язані із процесами інтеграції в Європейському Союзі. Аналіз цієї проблематики подано у контексті аналізу італомовних джерел та літератури. Еволюцію євроітеграційного погляду Італійської Республіки як держави-засновниці ЄС здійснено крізь призму розуміння місця і ролі цієї країни у ЄС на початку ХХІ століття, проте акцент здійснено у період останніх двох років, коли в Італійській Республіці відбулися трансформаційні зміни, пов’язані із проведенням референдуму у грудні 2016 року. Подані думки щодо майбутнього Європейського Союзу провідних істориків та політологів Італійської Республіки. Друга частина статті розкриває сучасні виклики ЄС та євроінтеграційних процесів через розуміння того, які дискусії мали місце під час проведення самітів «Великої сімки» та «Великої двадцятки». Крім того, увагу у статті присвячено особливостям пріоритетів Італійської Республіки, що головує у «Великій сімці» у 2017 році. Розкривається взаємозв’язок між інтересами Італійської Республіки та Європейського Союзу щодо консолідованого майбутнього ЄС. |
