The author presents an analysis of the impact of globalization on higher education in the EU. The EU scientific publications, which widely cover this issue, are taken as the basis for the analysis. The emergence of globalization occurs in the change of the paradigm of internationalization, as the transition from cooperation to competition. In Europe, there is a tendency to compare with higher education in the United States. In a more general sense, the strong threat is perceived by the Anglo-Saxon system of higher education and its strong position on the world market. In higher education, English is predominantly lingua franca, flexible degree structures, strong traditions of distance learning, differential tuition fees are observed. Along with the process of globalization, the process of internationalization is taking place, which has also become a strategically important phenomenon in higher education institutions. It includes a wide range of activities, such as mobility of students and employees, the internationalization of curricula and the provision of quality assurance, cooperation in education and research. Mobility programs for encouraging students to study at EU universities have been developed and implemented by the EC, that initiated international competitiveness. The study examins the effects of globalization, internationalization and Europeanization on higher education. Among such consequences competition, marketisation, ratings, entrepreneurial nature of universities, accreditation, alternative financing are distinguished. The tendencies of globalization will harm higher education in small countries and linguistic area. This will increase dramatic inequalities among universities, with the dominant role of world-class universities in Western countries. The results of this study can contribute to a deeper understanding of the current state of globalization of higher education in Ukraine.
Автором статті представлено результати аналізу впливу процесу глобалізації на вищу освіту ЄС. За основу для аналізу взяті публікації науковців ЄС, які широко висвітлюють це питання. Дослідження присвячене вивченню наслідків процесів глобалізації, інтернаціоналізації та Європеїзації у сфері вищої освіти. Серед таких наслідків виділяють конкуренцію, ринкові відносини, рейтинги, підприємницький характер ВНЗ, акредитацію, альтернативне фінансування, тощо. Результати даного дослідження можуть сприяти більш глибокому розумінню поточного стану глобалізації вищої освіти в Україні. Автором статье представлены результаты анализа влияния процесса глобализации на высшее образование ЕС. За основу для анализа взяты публикации учёных ЕС, которые широко освещают этот вопрос. Исследование посвящено изучению последствий процессов глобализации, интернационализации и Европеизации в сфере высшего образования. Среди таких последствий выделяют конкуренцию, рыночные отношения, рейтинги, предпринимательский характер вузов, аккредитацию, альтернативное финансирование. Результаты данного исследования могут способствовать более глубокому пониманию текущего состояния глобализации высшего образования в Украине. |
