У статті розглянуто основні підходи щодо трактування поняття платоспроможності страховика вітчизняними та зарубіжними вченими. Обґрунтовано розмежування таких понять, як фінансова стійкість і ліквідність, що дало змогу краще розкрити сутність поняття платоспроможності страхової компанії. Крім того, запропоновано загальні підходи до класифікації платоспроможності, для чого було виокремлено ознаки, за якими можна здійснити таку класифікацію. The article addresses main approaches to the interpretation of the concept of insurer solvency presented in the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists. This review purports to respond to the increased relevance of the solvency conceptual framework to insurance. We consider the interrelationship of solvency with close concepts of financial stability and liquidity. In addition, we discuss general approaches to classification of different concepts of the insurer solvency. Classification of different solvency concepts and comparison with related concepts enables us to understand the solvency’s nature better. Solvency indicates the insurer’s financial strength and the ability to fulfill commitments. Insurers face the choice among various business strategies which can be summarized as a choice between profitability and risk. In this regard, understanding the nature of the solvency is of particular importance when there is a need to assess the prospects of the insurer, to predict its future financial and economic situation and to identify possible ways for reduction of negative shocks’ consequences. |
