The article attempts to discuss the question concerning the nature of metaphysics as a philosophical science, to define its subject field, to determine the conditions of its existence. The attempt is made to consider the possibility of metaphysics, the question formulated by I. Kant but based on the experience of modern philosophy. The article discusses the traditional view of metaphysics, according to which it consists of two parts: general metaphysics (metaphysica generalis) or philosophical ontology and special metaphysics (metaphysica specialis), the subject of which is the World, God and the Soul or being in its highest, absolute value. In connection with such a characteristic of classical metaphysics, it appears as onto-theology, or onto-theological nature of philosophy (M. Heidegger). The article considers typical of the contemporary philosophy critical attitude toward metaphysics, attempting to revise not only its scientific status, but its significance for philosophy. We consider not only positivism, but also postclassical philosophy aimed at creating a new non-classical metaphysics (Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Bergson, Scheler, Heidegger). The article addresses the rejection of metaphysics as a unified doctrine about the main principles of being interpreted as a manifestation of the crisis of contemporary philosophy and culture, as well as suggests that philosophical metaphysics can contribute to overcoming this crisis. In particular, it can act as a bridge between science and religion. The author also suggests the importance of metaphysics to science, the importance of philosophical reflection on the “metaphysical background”, which is surrounded by all scientific theories. The paper discusses current research in the field of metaphysics, including the work of Emerich Coreth SJ and Michael J. Loux, with a detailed analysis of the views of Michael J. Loux on the nature of metaphysics and on its two possible versions: the transcendental and traditional. Also his interpretation of metaphysics as the theory of categories (ontology) is critically evaluated. It is noted that this limitation of the subject matter of metaphysics does not allow him to justify the basic principle of realism. The article is supported by the opinion of Emerich Coreth that metaphysics has the perspective of further existence only under conditions of open debate: not only the substantive elements of classical metaphysics but all its objections in contemporary philosophy. Здійснено спробу розглянути питання щодо природи метафізики як філософської науки, окреслити її предметне поле, визначити умови її існування, спробу ще раз розглянути питання щодо можливості метафізики, сформульоване ще І. Кантом, але з урахуванням досвіду сучасної філософії. В статті досліджено традіційне уявлення про метафізику, згідно з яким вона складається з двох частин: загальної метафізики (metaphysica generalis), або філософської онтології, і спеціальної метафізики (metaphysica specialis), предметом якої є світ у цілому, Бог і душа, або буття в його найвищому, абсолютному значенні. Відповідно до такого, властивого класичній філософії, уявлення метафізика постає як онто-теологія, або як онто-теологічна сутність філософії (М. Гайдеґґер). У статті розглянуто характерне для сучасної філософії критичне ставлення до метафізики, спроби переглянути не тільки її науковий статус, а й її необхідне значення для філософії. Висловлено думку, що попри таке заперечення метафізика зберігає своє значення як для філософії, так і для науки. Зокрема, може виконати роль єднальної ланки між наукою і релігією. Проаналізовано сучасні дослідження в галузі метафізики, в тому числі праці Емеріха Корета і Майкла Лакса. |
