The article deals with the semantical basis of the anthroponyms of the public figures of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, offering a description and classification of the fundamental and facultative semantical relations between the family names and surnames within the extralinguistic reality. Dealing with the surnames, the scientists usually write about original semantics of anthroponyms, that is to say about the motives and principles of nomination. There are several scientific approaches to the surnames classification from the point of view of the lexical and semantic basis; for example, etymological, sociological, historical, functional, and synchronous. The article differentiates the concepts of nomination principles, nomination motives, and nomination methods. The methods of nomination are the united ways of objects nomination. The principles of nomination are the relation of onyms to the notional concept. The motives of nomination are the reasons for or specific peculiarities of nomination. According to this classification, all the surnames in the article are described and classified. The conclusion summarizes the statistical data. Most of the studied family names and surnames derived from full (65 %) and contracted (26 %) versions of male Christian names, and a small number (9 %) – from the Old Slavic name composites and their derivatives. Among the analyzed names and family names there are also some derivatives from common nouns. A separate group among them consists of the names that derived from the external characteristics of the name carrier, from the names of the trades and crafts. The ratio of the names and family names that derive from proper and common nouns is 76 % and 24 % respectively. Статтю присвячено аналізу семантики прізвищевих назв і прізвищ діячів Києво-Могилянської академії XVII–XVIII ст. Під семантикою розуміють відношення між мовним вираженням матеріалу та значенням, яке він має. Семантика тісно пов’язана з мотиваційними відношеннями. |
