У дисертації розкрито особливості організаційно-педагогічного забезпечення адаптації іноземних студентів в університетах США. Висвітлено адаптацію іноземних студентів в університетах як науково-педагогічну проблему. Виконано аналіз організаційно-педагогічного забезпечення адаптації іноземних студентів в університетах США. Окреслено можливості використання прогресивних ідей і досвіду США в умовах університетської освіти України. Уточнено зміст понять «психологічна адаптація», «соціокультурна адаптація», «академічна адаптація», «кампус», «полікультурна компетентність викладача», «компоненти університетського середовища», «рекрутинг». Подальшого розвитку набули положення про сутність, концепції, структуру, педагогічні основи адаптації іноземних студентів; теоретико-методологічні основи процесу адаптації; структуру й особливості функціонування кампусу. В диссертации раскрыты особенности организационно-педагогического обеспечения адаптации иностранных студентов в университетах США. Освещено адаптацию иностранных студентов в университетах как научно-педагогическую проблему. Проанализировано организационно-педагогического обеспечения адаптации иностранных студентов в университетах США. Изложены возможности использования прогрессивных идей и опыта США в условиях университетского образования Украины. Уточнено содержание понятий «психологическая адаптация», «социокультурная адаптация», «академическая адаптация», «кампус», «поликультурная компетентность преподавателя», «компоненты университетской среды», «рекрутинг». Дальнейшее развитие получили положения о сущности, концепциях, структуре, педагогических основах адаптации иностранных студентов; теоретико-методологических основах процесса адаптации; структуре и особенностях функционирования кампуса. The research deals with the analysis of the organizational and pedagogical ensuring of foreign students’ adaptation at US universities. The foreign students’ adaptation in universities as a scientific and pedagogical problem based on the theories and concepts, approaches and principles have been highlighted. The specificity of organizational and pedagogical provision of the foreign students’ adaptation in US universities has been justified. It reflects the sociocultural dimension, pedagogical-organizational dimension, socio-psychological dimension, organizational dimension; the possibility of using progressive ideas and experience of the USA in university education of Ukraine has been outlined. It has been proved that the structure of foreign students’ adaptation to the American university environment from the point of view of pedagogical science comprises the following components: subjective, theoretical-methodological, content, organizational and procedural. Adaptation of foreign students in the American university environment is in the sphere of influence of direct-acting factors that are means of training and indirect factors, among which there are the spatial-objective organization of the environment and interpersonal interaction. The main aspects that cover the adaptation of foreign students at US universities have been described, namely: learning the language of the host country (English), adopting the culture of the host country, social support etc. Thus, adaptation for the purpose of studying in a foreign higher educational institution involves the formation of a number of competencies and abilities of students, namely: foreign-language communicative competence, sociocultural competence, intercultural competence, strategic competence, ability to overcome cultural shock and stress associated with it, abilities to adapt to a new cultural environment. The main teachers’ competencies necessary in the work with foreign students for their successful adaptation and study process have been singled out (professional competence, competence in research, in the elaboration and implementation of training programs, in lifelong learning, socio-cultural and multicultural, emotional and communicative competences, competence in information and communication technologies (ICT), competence in management and environmental competence. The organizational and pedagogical basics of the university staff’s work with foreign students on ensuring the facilitation of their adaptation to a new academic environment and an important role of the campus in this process have been substantiated. The possibilities of applying progressive ideas and experience of the USA to providing foreign students adaptation in university education of Ukraine have been outlined. The notions “psychological adaptation”, “sociocultural adaptation”, “academic adaptation”, “campus”, “polycultural competence of the teacher”, “components of the university environment”, “recruiting” have been clarified. The ideas of the essence, concepts, structure, pedagogical bases of foreign students’ adaptation; theoretical and methodological basics of the adaptation process; structure and peculiarities of campus functioning have gained further development.
