The invention relates to machine-building, in particular engine-building, and can be used in systems for purification of exhaust gases of diesel combustion engines. A method for purification of exhaust gases of a combustion engine with removal of soot particles consists in that prior to filtration of gas flow and after it one measures pressure of exhaust gases. One calculates radial velocity of soot particles in gas flow. For a given value of approach of those to the surface of the particulate filter at instant of collision one calculates optimum temperature of gas flow at which sedimentation of soot particles on particulate filter takes place best of all. Calculated value of optimal temperature is corrected with account of losses of heat at motion of gas flow from heating element to the particulate filter and change of properties of the surface of the particulate filter because of deposition of the previous soot layer. Then one measures current temperature of gas flow and compares it to calculated optimum value. Under condition that current temperature of gas flow is smaller than optimum one, gas flow is heated to value of optimum temperature, this provides increase of efficiency of the method. The technical result is an increase of efficiency of purification of combustion engine exhaust gases with removal of soot particles.
