Abstract In the article was studied language peculiarity of unique written monument of XV century – Chetija-Mineja, 1489, described extralingual and introlingual factors, that influenced the formation text’s language canvas. Linguistic analysis of the text has shown active interaction of the live folk language and Old Church Slavonic language as dominant language of Ukrainian church of that time. Tradition of book’s spelling in the late Middle Ages was tightly used in consciousness of rewriters of religious books, which caused the main amount of the Church Slavonic language features in manuscript’s phonetics and morphology. The gradual withdrawal from archaistic standards in literary writing was due to infiltration of spoken elements of the Ukrainian language, so in the text of ancient manuscript were founded the special phonetic and morphological features of south-western and northern dialects of the Ukrainian language. Some language phenomena which represented in the Chetija-Mineja, 1489, became the determinant in further development of the Ukrainian language and nowadays belong to its typical phonetic and grammatical features. In monument are shown the scattered examples of the influence of the Polish language. The interplay of different linguistic elements caused the development of the variability in phonetic and morphological levels of the Old Slavonic language of XV century.
