У контексті бажаної системи освіти і виховання теоретики і практики освіти вказують на принцип гуманізму, а у сучасному її поступі розглядають реалізацію тенденції гуманізації та гуманітаризації освіти, адже розвиток особистості можливий на основі оволодіння досягненнями людської культури, що безпосередньо залежить від рівня освоєння базової гуманітарної культури. У зв’язку з цим, самовизначення особистості в контексті світової культури є стрижневою лінією гуманітаризації змісту освіти, яка повинна простежуватися на всіх рівнях освіти.
