The article focuses on the role of church singing in forming the primary school children’s creative personalities. Nowadays it is important to find methods of improving the church singing of primary school children. The low level of the stated problem motivates the researchers not only to improve the conditions of church singing but also to develop voice quality and to form a fine andbeautiful tone. The children’s attitude towards church singing is usually formed during their primary school years, they get interested in it, they develop their musical talents, the skills to perceive and perform church songs are also formed. Church singing is a special phenomenon in music because it glorifies the human soul, and the children's singing can be considered a choir of angels. As a synthesis of religion and arts, church singing serves as a means of aesthetic and moral education to primary school children. The specific character of church choir singing is that it is sung as an a capella. As the highest form of choir performing, singing without instrumental accompaniment requires of the conductor slightly different skills than singing with accompaniment. A capella singing is rightfully considered to be the most sophisticated type of choir singing. The vocal aspect of church singing is defined by the melody of the Church Slavonic language, and the lyrics of church songs, characterized by the depth of spiritual meaning, tune the soul in a way so that it is easy to perform. Therefore, the development of children’s skills of church singing is not a process of monotonous teaching, but a result of systematic and long work on song material various in form and content. Church singing does not only affect the emotional and aesthetic development of the child, but also influences him psychologically. From our experience we know that developing children’s voice and hearing impacts their speech, and speech is the foundation of thinking. Church singing skills improve the level of primary school children’s spiritual education, encourage the development of their creative personalities. |
